 Her eyes penetrate. I'm sure most notice her future and ample chest first.  This was merely a distraction she indulged.  It was the curls which when done as an up do resembled the hanging branch of a maple over emerald studs.

 If desperation had a scent it would be the throngs that paid $20 to get in the door. But there was no particular scent. Instead they bore the mark of incessant insecurity. Tight shirts, aesthetic muscles. They weren't lifting timber ti build homes, they weren't carrying the carcass of a dead hunt home to feed their family.  Her eyes makeup extended to wings on the outset. The first young woman I recall doing this effect was a co-worker. I worked with her and her mother at various times. Her mother's accent would get trapped in my head but her daughters eyes would get trapped in my memories. Her skin like silk. It glistened. Her eyes captivating on their own but an Egyptian affectation has sat with my for 22 years.   The young woman in 2022 comes across brash. I respect it. I don't give in but I appreciate her candor. She asks for $100. I give her 45. It is what I have left. It's not easy doing what they do.  There are many people to pay.  House mom.  Lockers. She is already drunk but asks for another. What does it take to be gawked at? I barely can stand being scrutinized as an object of desire momentarily.   She looks like a second hand jennifer Laurence. She talks like her too.
